Cabin Air Blower Hesitation

Incompatible

2007 Z4 3.0Si Coupe. When using my blower (manual setting) to pull in fresh air and when running the air conditioner, it has recently begun to momentarily hesitate (reduce speed) and then return to the set speed. This hesitation does not appear to be linked with anything that I’m doing such as applying brakes, signaling, turning headlights on/off, radio use….. and occurs about once every two to three minutes. Any thoughts?

Never heard of it on the Zed, but on the X5 all such problems are put down to the now infamous fault of the 'final stage resistor'.

It seems to have the sole job of buggering up normal fan operation, being expensive to replace and annoyingly starting erratic actions of the fan, even if the car is locked and shut down.

Maybe totally unrelated of course...

Additional info: Drove home this afternoon, about a 20 minute drive, and it ran continuously without a single hesitation. It's a mystery to me.

Anyone know where this 'final stage resistor' is located on our cars? My blower has started acting up and has I mind if it's own, even in manual mode. Speeds up, slows down, won't blow with the switch in the 1st on slowest position. I also have a 2007 coupe. I know this is covered under warranty, it would just be nice to know what it takes to replace it.

My wife's 2001 525i had a similar problem so I changed the 'final stage resistor' which fixed the problem and only took 10 minutes.

Are you saying that the fan speed slows and then resumes its original speed? And, it has occurred both when the AC is running or when the AC is shut off?
It happens with the AC on or off. Air will be blowing at a constant speed, and then the blower momemtarily slows (hesitates/stumbles) almost as though it briefly lost electrical power, it then resumes normal speed.
