C310+ software update problem

My C310+ is still running version 5.5 of the software so i thought I'd try and update it to version 12.02
The update tool recognises the scanner when its plugged in but when i try and update i get a USB bing bong and the scanner shuts down then another as it starts up again then ten seconds or so later I get an update failed - try again message along with HID device not found.

I'm running Windows 10 but this happened on my previous laptop running a much older version of windows as well. I'd sort of forgotten about it so thought the new lap top might make it burst into life!

Perhaps the jump from V5 to V12 is too much?

Any ideas?

You can downgrade it if needed? Think mine is on 11?
Have you tried another lower version of the software?

I had a quick look but couldn't see any older versions.

A chap on faceboook told me that some that were sold a couple of years ago are not genuine and can't be updated. Mine was only £32 from Ebay so it looks like that might be the problem.

That’s interesting. I’ll plug mine in tomorrow to check the version. I usually keep the old versions on the pc when I upgrade so will check to see what I’ve got. Do you have the CD? I’m sure the reader originally came with one of those mini CD’s. Of course you might struggle to read those now since most pc’s don’t come with readers anymore!

Yes I’ve got a mini cd that came with it. I think it’s only got the manual and the update tool in it
