Bye bye Z4MC... you were immense!

I said goodbye to my Z4MC last week guys... I had it for over 5 years and without doubt it's such a special car. It's just right in terms of looks, noise, performance, rarity, sense of occasion... I know it's relative and these aren't in everyone's budget but I actually think these are amazing value for what they give: depreciation was just a few hundred £ over those 5 years/25k miles and I reckon I'd not even have lost that had I sold in spring rather than winter... It never came close to letting me down, always looked the part and was awesome on long trips, one last year as far as Barcelona. Next up is a 4.2 R8 which for not much more performance requires much more outlay  , but I've admired these from afar for a number of years now and I need to experience one properly! :D

Anyways, I have to say the Z4MC wears its 10 years exceptionally well, and I'm sure they still will in another 10!

+1 on the R8, drove one on a track day thingy a couple of weeks ago... alas far to expensive for me to own :(

very nice interior and a good effort getting to barcelona, i've gone as far as gibraltor

Thanks all!

Nice to hear positive comments on the Z4MC's replacement. I've only test driven the R8 for 10 mins but it felt and sounded probably better than I thought it would... the sound of the V8 was addictive

Getting an inspection done on one tomorrow, fingers crossed it's as good as I think it is 8)

Nice choice, for me too it's about the only thing at vaguely sensible money I'd want to jump into. I drove one briefly a long time ago now, as you say the noise is pretty great  I had a good look underneath one recently too, well designed and built things indeed (ETA: it had lunched it's engine though  ). Enjoy and let us know how you get on with it
One of those last manual V10 plus editions seems good 'investment' potential to me (if I had a spare 100k  ), as I'm sure will the supposedly sweeter handling V8s. Did you go for the manual?

[ref]TomK[/ref], manual: wasn't interested in any R- or S-Tronic

[ref]Darren Slone[/ref], many thanks  I'm clearly biased but I loved the look of it; really hope the new owner looks after it properly.

I read the header to your post OP and thought "why would anyone do that"?

Then I read your post - V8 R8 manual! Now I can see why you might!

Your MC looks stunning, especially the 2 tone interior! I hope your R8 gives you at least as many smiles per mile!

Over the years I've seen sooooo many pics of MCs... how about some of this R8 :driving: :D

I felt a bit stupid afterwards even asking  Good stuff , it's a lovely box. :driving:

Ditto ref posting updates of your R8
As I'm thinking R8 or M4 a my next toy

Happy driving

Congrats bud, respect to the M, it has served you well... I've seen guys move onto Porsche and aston's after their Z4M's but this is a first on the R8, its a spectacular vehicle so all the best, please post some of your views once you collect this machine... oh yes, pics pls :D

Hi all, quick update on the R8: was hoping to inspect and collect it yesterday (and flood this thread with images! :D ) but the inspection has thrown up a few things that will more than likely mean my search will move on to other examples... I knew it needed some TLC and figured within months I'd have it up to mint standard and it would still be very low miles/low owners with full Audi history, but the potential bill to get it right won't be small once you factor a few more issues including 4 new tyres and 4 x mag-ride shocks etc

Good choice to walk away and not buy no matter what.

Good luck with the hunt

no such thing as a cheap entry into these type of performance cars... buy the best you can from the off!!
