Bye bye Z4 3.0 its been fun.

Hi,

As the title says, the time has come for me to part ways with my beloved Z4. I had been thinking recently about changing my car and i had been looking to see what was out there, I decided to settle on a BMW 123D M Sport (a December 2008 with only 13K on the clock) . I was offered a really good price for my car as it is obvious its well looked after, I am really excited at the new car as it is fully kitted out with the BMW M aerodynamics kit (not the standard M sport bumpers). I intend to post some pics once it get it but it is fully loaded accessorywise with the only thing missing being Sat Nav.

I will really miss the Z especially when we get back in to the summer months but to be honest its hard to own one being your only car, i wish i could have both but needs must. The 0-60 on the 123D is 7 seconds so i dont loose too much performance, the MPG is 44 Urban 54 Combined and 64 Extra :thumbsup: .

Thanks everyone on this site, you are all a really great bunch who have made my Z4 ownership cheap and trouble free.. :thumbsup:

I collect my new car on Friday, weather permitting (i have a feeling i will make the 1 mile drive to the garage if it kills me).

Didn't realise they were that fuel efficient as well as doing the 60 run in 7 secs. :o
 
Thanks guys, I only went to have a look at it this afternoon didnt expect to do the deal. When i saw the car kitted out as it is in the flesh i knew it was a done deal, i havent seen any 1 series kitted out with that bodykit on the road anywhere. The car looks like BMW's answer to the GTI, the engine is fantastic and being a 2 litre twin turbo it only costs £110 a year for road tax best of all it still gives decent performance. I also read that it can be remapped to make it 250BHP, though to be honest i am more than happy with the standard 204BHP. I cannot believe the economy this car delivers, i recon my fuel bill will be half every month.

Oh and its a five door, so its quite handy for the dogs (once i get seat covers).
 
The 123d is a VERY capable car - certainly one of the best performance diesels around. If you intend sticking around a bit I'd be keen to hear how you get on with it. I previously owned a diesel hot hatch (Ibiza Cupra TDI) with similar performance to the 123d and it was stupidly quick, particuarly on the move, but it just didn't inspire me to go out for drives like previous cars (or the Z4) do. Quick - yes. Capable - very! Fun - not entirely. I really hope the 123d is a fun car to drive and wish you all the best with it :)
 
54 mpg... thats pretty impressive... should feel pretty quick with all that low down torque. Does it have the bigger fuel tank too?

This girl at work has a 318 and she recons she can get over 600 miles to tank - but then it costs over £70 to fill up!

My 23i's current mpg is 28.98, i.e. 19.76 p/mile (V-Power). The 318d's cost per mile is only 11.67 p.
 
Thanks guys, I'll post some pics soon. Collecting on Friday, can't wait this is the newest car i have ever owned and my first main dealer car.

I intend to extend the warranty at the end of next year, especially with it being a twin turbo diesel and a BMW (all know how expensive they can get).
 
If only they did a 135d! But the 123d is still over 200bhp, and then a remap will sort out a fair few more :driving:
