Bye bye Yellow coupe.

Looks great - its a funny one this in my mind, it's a major upgrade in some ways, the opposite in others - the main thing is that you still have an individual, performance orientated car - I don't think anyone can critisise that!

I like the black alloy wheels and the red brake calipers. So I assume the cash from sale of your Z4 was much more the purchase price of the Monaro. Otherwise, there was no point of selling the Z4 Coupe. Halliwell Jones Chester is advertising your car at £21,995. The car is fully loaded.

Did you consider M3 (E46) or M5 (E39) before buying the Monaro?

There were a few cars i was interested in, including TVR's and M cars. I wanted something without huge servicing costs, and the Monaro ticks that box every time. The fuel issue isn't going to be cheap, but hey, i knew that, but the servicing is so cheap compared to other performance cars.

I love my cars to bits, but i don't see the point of buying something mega expensive or flash if you can't afford to look after it properly. Thats why i have gone for something a little different but still very individual, fast and fun.

Thats how i have sold it to myself anyway!

And yes, the Monaro was far cheaper than the Zed.
 
Liking the Monaro. Looking forward to seeing what you think about it when you've taken it out for a proper drive :)
 
Something very cool about the Monaro. Guessing it must have a different exhaust system on it that makes it sound angry? Nice choice.
 
I'll do a write up soon, but having just come back from my 1st drive, there are some very clear differences about the two cars.

1. The Z4 interior is far superior, but this is to be expected i think. That said, the Monaro is a very nice place to be.
2. Noise. V8 v Straight 6. V8 wins hands down.
3. Traction control. I accidently kangaroo'd pulling away from the lights (thankfully no-one saw). This alone made the back end spin up and the traction kick in!
4. The Z4 got lots of attention, i suspect partly due to the colour. This gets attention due to the noise. Both are pretty rare on the road though (coupe model).
5. Thirst. Urm, think the Zed has the V8 beat hands down hear.......... Nuff said.

Anyway, am i happy? Very. I have a cool car still and money left over for a new kitchen. I did love my Z4 to bits and it was a joy to own, but times change, been there, done that, try something else.

GM confirmed that they will make right-hand drive Camaro. Can they make it to transform too? :D It will be the one I will buy if not the new Z4.

Love the colour of your departed Z, i wanted a M roadster in that colour, but could not find one and never seen one, they had a 325 convertible in the showroom in that colour when i bought the Z and i was tempted, but even in red the Z4 won.

The monaro looks nice, never really seen one, looks fun to drive.
 
I insure my 53 plate 3-litre Z4 with Privilege for about £360, with Class 1 business use, and a CH7 postcode.

For servicing , forget HJ! Try Smiths in Caergwrle - an independent BMW specialist of the first order. Bill Smith lives on Hoole Road, so can pick up cars from Chester for servicing. His business looks after its customer and its cars as it should be done. I first came across him about twelve years ago, and have never thought of looking anywhere else for BMW service since. 01978 762730.
