Thanks. I purchased the car a few weeks ago from a reputable dealer and am confident the oil cooler and housing gaskets have only just started leaking.
Aux belt looks fine as do the coolant hoses. I had a good look. No sign of any mayo in the expansion tank and the float is at the correct height.

Or................... since the dealer cleaned everything up, it's taken a while for the oil to seep again. :roll: :wink:

I cleaned it up when it first happened and then it was all ok until my next spirited drive.
That’s when I posted up about it.
I’m still learning.
All my mechanical experience lies with Japanese bikes and cars and my old Golf mkiv.

No digs at you bud, just taking the pee out of car dealers.

The N52 is a good engine (I’m on number five now). Oil leaks are a common issue though, which I don’t think is helped by the hot temperatures that these engines run at in the name of efficiency. There’s a wealth of knowledge and how to’s out there to help.

It’s an older BMW; I’ve come to realise that there’s always something that needs fiddling with! Luckily I enjoy it.

Got the oil filter cooler gasket replaced today at no cost. Dealer kindly helped cover that.

I noticed the plastic front panel above the radiator is now missing a few of the little plastic cross head screw-clips.
Two were resting in place and another missing no doubt through going brittle with age.

What do people use as replacements as I imagine BMW would charge silly money for such a small part.
Doesn’t have to be like for like. Just something that holds the panel down safely.
