Hey guys I've been chasing rattles and noises lately - solved one today - and just found another!
At low rpm (usually 1st or 2nd) crawling around, as the car is decelerating and coming to a near stop - right before you would probably clutch-in to stop - I'm hearing a "buzz" sound. It stops immediately if I clutch-in or accelerate. I can only hear it with my windows down and I'm guessing pedestrians can hear it as well.
It sounds like when you were a kid and you put a playing card in the spokes of your bicycle wheels.
It is very consistent though seems to only happen once the car has been driven for a short while (couldn't notice anything driving cold). I also cannot replicate the sound free-reving at a stop.
- From digging online, the most reasonable suggestion I've read is a loose clutch plate spring - though my car had a new clutch done right before I took ownership (so I was told with receipts). This seems to make the most sense to me though.
- Another suggestion was "engine resonance" coming through - but it seems too buzzy for that.
My car does have a pretty clunky sounding clutch sometimes when I disengage it too fast at low speed but that's been like that for as long as I can remember - and general consensus I was able to gather here is ... it's sorta just like that (dual mass etc).
I have had a look at the heat shields underneath around the exhaust and from what I've seen they don't appear to be touching anything.
Anyone else have a similar buzz from their car?
