I was thinking of buying a z4 and I was just wondering everyone's input I know the roof will need replaced but is there anything off or weird that I should know now or when I look at it in real life?

There is a buying guide for what to look for. If you do a search on here. This one looks quite tired though. Tatty steering wheel, worn leather. What’s that black line on the soft top? Dirt or is it worn?
Look at service history and how the car has been looked after throughout its life. You can tell generally (with any car) what sort of life it’s had by the condition.

If you’re handy with a spanner and mechanically-inclined don’t discount fixer-uppers, which is undoubtedly what this one is judging by those few low-res photos already!
Looks like an auto although from the photo I can’t be 100%. If it’s high miles (100k+) and automatic I’d be running away as this will be your biggest/most expensive headache if it goes wrong. Looks like you’re in Amurrca in which case it’s probably an auto.
They all leak oil like a sieve if gaskets haven’t been changed so look out for traces around the engine. When cold and if its an M54 have a feel around the back of the block with your fingers where the head meets the top of the block. If you pull your fingers out and they’re wet with oil then it needs at least a cam cover gasket.
Some more specs and history would be beneficial for you to advise here. Pictures tell a 1000 words but you should never judge a car by how it looks!

I guess it would depend on price and how many you have to choose from, but to get that one looking good again could cost more than waiting to find a better example.

Z4 auto boxes are reliable, don't let that worry you.
