It seems more and more people here are going to order their brand new Z4 before the summer comes. Who is going to buy and what engine will you go for? I will be happy to own a 23i/30i this year. :D

My ideal new Z4 (in Deep Sea Blue/Space Grey) must have: Black Kansas leather, adaptive M Sport suspension, 18" Multi-spoke 293/V-Spoke 294, cruise control with brake function, PDC, rain sensor, sport seats, extended lighting, anthracite headlining, auto dimming rear-view mirror, wind deflector, windscreen with grey shade band, and brushed aluminium trim.

When my Z4 hits 150K miles (in about 40K more miles), then I'll consider the upgrade. So far, the car is wearing well, so I'm in no hurry to trade it up. Plus, like many, this economy has me in jitters, so even if I had the bucks, I'm not in the mood for big purchases.

Two favorite Z4 accessories:
BMW Z4 Windscreen (Windblocker)
Z4 Shift Knobs

I won't even consider it until the first flush of depreciation has taken its toll on prices, better OEM specced models are introduced and the step from mine to the next gets closer. Right now mine plus £38k is pure stupid, when mine is just about perfect for what I need (and want)

Even then I remain undecided as it's not a softtop.

Agreed. Even ex-demo (6-month-old) will be stil nearly £30k at the end of this year. I think I have to wait until next summer/autumn. :(

Why buy a SLK knock off? If want one I'll buy the real thing!

Exactly!

Next car will be either an M3 or M5 (depending on when hubby wins the lottery  )

Never unless there is an M version. No point in downgrading.

Of course even 35i cannot satisfy the current Z4M owners' requirements. But it will be quite improvement for 2.5i/3.0i owner in terms of power. My 2.5i only has 177hp and 0-62mph in 7.1sec, compared to 23i with 204hp and 0-62mph in 6.6sec.

Many people had said there will be M version of new Z4. Don't worry. :)

You probably ignoring the new car weighs a good 150kg more than the old version, it needs the extra torque and power to overcome the weight penalty - i'm surpised a 2 seater roadster can weigh in excess of 1500kg. The 23i is also a 2.5 engine and a very strange attempt at badge engineering.

Cheaper to keep the Z3, yes, you heard me right! Getting ROADCAR all fixed up and taking care of lots of things. REMINDER< check your batteries. Discovered mine has been very, very bad, and corrosion did damage, but with a couple of baking soda baths, brushing and a couple coats of rust prohibiting paint, all is fixed! Thanks to Luca for his expertise! Try to catch me on those turns NOW! VANOS upgrade in place and exceeded my expectations! Cheaper to keep the Z3!

My answer is never as i cannot see me ever buying one its the sort of car as i said in a previous post that i would buy when a lot older but that boot space is just no good cannot see the point in having a roadster that you have to keep the top up while touring in europe
