Buying higher mileage Coupes?

Hi All,

I used to run an E39 M5 and owned it from 45k to until well past 150k miles. The only issues I had were the odd sensor failure and some suspension/steering parts started to get tired. (That was a great car and now it seems an appreciating classic... I sold it way too cheap... )

On an e86 Coupe, what should I look out for on 100k + cars, assuming they've been properly serviced etc.?

I read about rear suspension wear, which is not an expensive issue to fix. Anything else worth looking out for?

Cheers!

Water pump,
Rust in the boot area,
Handbrake cable / shoes in need of repair / replacement
Wheels that may be corroded
Tracking out of alignment
Exhaust rattles / blows
Doors that may have dropped slightly
GPS / Sat nav not working

I'm just naming some of the issues I encountered during my near 4 year ownership. (between 33 and 50k miles)

I bough my coupe on 116k, have some experience of high mileage bmws so I knew it's all about condition. It had FSH, everything worked, and it drove better than some of the lower mileage ones I test drove. Flew through its mot with no advisories in Feb.
Check the usual things for used cars, the springs are known to break on these also.

I kind of wish I'd of bought a high mileage one I think I'd of got more enjoyment out of it as I'm scared to put miles on mine now. Most the faults will probably of been rectified on a high mileage one but as said springs go and the interiors wear for fun so may need some attention.
