Buying AUC

Looked at an AUC Z4MC this weekend and will probably sign on the dotted line tomorrow.
Questions I had though are:
1. Is the BMW AUC 12 month warranty the same as extending the original warranty? Car is coming upto three years old and I would like to continue original BMW warranty as have heard of big bills
2. Anything else I should push for in deal? There are a couple of scratches I would want sorted, 12 m tax, fuel. Am I thinking too small?!!

Loved the test drive. And I thought I would have a hard time convincing the missus, but she loved it!
Thanks guys/galls.
Looking forward to joining the club

Welcome.

Tax is £450, so worth getting for sure if you can get it as part of the deal.

The AUC warranty is slightly lower level then original warranty, as it does not cover all items such as adjustments etc.

Whether the deal is good, only you can judge based on the figures ...

If it's very close to 3 years old, then I'd ask for an MOT to be done. That will also pick up & list any little problems that are there before you buy it, and give you 12 months before having to worry about an MOT.

AUC should always MOT the car if less the 12 months is left before the car is 3 years old, well that's what they told me when I bought mine at 2.5 years old :D

Welcome!

I was spoilt when I bought my first Z4 from Wellsway in Bath and managed to negotiate £3k off the asking price and at the time didn't think that was out of the ordinary, but I've since learnt that doesn't happen very often!

I bought my Z4MC AUC about 3 months ago and the deal was 12 months tax, tank of fuel and "vehicle protection" (allegedly £300 worth) thrown in but they wouldn't move much on the price (£200).

Make sure service book is stamped and that the first service was done on time. I was about to sign for a AUC from a main BMW dealer only to discover that it had not been touched until the dealer got it at three yeas old and in fact it could not be sold as AUC as it had not met the criteria laid down by BMW

Thanks everyone. Off to negotiate a deal this am. I have my target price and will stick to it!! The car is midnight blue. Doesn't have nav or cruise, but not bothered by lack of nav and there is that place at SShields which I read about which could do cruise. There are a couple of bodywork issues to sort out- a small dent in tailgate right on the crease line, bonnet scratches. Otherwise looks clean. Must remember to look at service book.
I'll post later on result!!!
Cheers

How much is the car and what reg / mileage is it? We can tell you what the current fair 'market' price for it is. Maybe post a link to the advert?

Is it the one at Stratstone Harrogate? http://www.approvedbmw.co.uk/bmwuk/auc/car_details/0,,1260_159980106__,00.html?currentCh=WBSDU920X0LF78883

If so it is a the exact same specification and colour combination to a car that I nearly purchased from Sytner in Feb 09. The car was also 2007 but had 8000 miles on it at that time (I am not sure this is the same car or not), maybe you can ask them if it was sold from Sytner Coventry last year as an AUC?

I agreed on a price of £22500 with Sytner but decided not to buy as I had an imminent house purchase.

Hope this helps.

You could have an 08 plate M Roadster for £21500 if you would like a soft top

Cheers Tex. Does help.
That is the car. Reg is GP57GJ (can't remember last letter). Leather is caramel not champagne I think.

Just out of interest, how much is this up for?

Just wondering as I'm trying to sell a similar spec'd car privately.

Or you could have my coupé for a similar amount :poke:

If that interior picture is correct, then the leather is not caramel. In browns/beiges, you've got:

Champagne

Light Sepang

Caramel

Saddle Brown (don't think this was an ///M option though)

I've never seen that last dark brown Sepang interior. Looks nice, would really suit a white Coupe.

ETA: That is a white Coupe

I was just about to say the same :P

It's unusual for them to say POA, is that because it's ridiculously expensive?

It was up at £23898 or something like that (ie just under £24k) up until the end of last week when it went poa!

Welcome to the Forum,

Buying AUC should give you a years MOT as standard. Bought mine at 2.5 years (midnight blue too). Hmm 24k eh - sounds a good starting figure given year, spec and mileage.

Good luck on your purchase. When I bought in May this year, the dealers didn't want to budge too much on price but it is possible to shift the price by a few hundred.

Well, deal done. Should pick up Sat.
Car was on at 23989. Dunno why they have POA on the website when the price is clearly listed on Autotrader. I was ok with what I ended up paying. Could have left it but I don't get a car then. Needless to say I shall expect it to be immaculate on pick up!
My first rear driver as well. Brave or stupid ?
