Buying Approved used ..............

my understanding was one month/one thousand miles was the leeway on servicing.

Goal posts been moved matey I'm just as confused by what I've been told today.

That was by 2 people, one being a warranty administrater

I've come across discrepencies like this a lot when I've bought AUC cars particularly when they have low mileage - my land rover discovery missed its first service by 2 Months because it had not done 12 000 miles .. car was serviced by the dealer before i got it and i got a letter from Land Rover Customer services stating that this would not impact on the warranty . The previous owner of the car who let it lapse by 2 months - you guessed it Land Rover.

On another AUC point i even came across a franchised dealer (non bmw) selling cars through the authorised approved web site but in fact when you got into the detail the cars did not have the manufacturers AUC warranty but an aftermarket one... guess what I didn't buy the car.... very naughty rang trading standards about that one.

so it pays to check everything in fine detail.

Personally i would nt go anywhere near the car you are looking at.. nothing puts a future buyer of more than a poor service history.

If it helps OP I was in exactly the same position with my M. Everything else about the car was great - the options list was long, mileage low and it was very good condition compared to others I'd seen and the price was right. It had the 1200 service but then hadn't had an oil service for almost 3 years. On an M people will probably say that's about the greatest crime there is.

If it was average mileage and average options then I would have walked away as most people have advised you, but I wasn't going to find another with the same spec at the price quite as easily. When I posted on here at the time people's advice was that it wasn't a massive problem, and I haggled some more off the already good price, so I went ahead anyway.

I know I might have issues come resale time but I also know that BMW will take it back. That said, you never know when they are going to tighten up their policy on these things so you could find yourself not being able to give it back to BMW even.
