I was with you until the test drive

I don’t know why you bothered asking. You’ve obviously made up your mind.

Trade it in, take the financial hit and sleep easy in your bed knowing you’re safe

I bothered because I was hoping somebody would tell me a way to safely distance while accomplishing the task in Q. So far all I got for the do it suggestions is to ignore distancing... :poke:

That's okay, I think we will sell to a dealer. Thank you all.

FWIW I think you did the right thing by asking.
There is often a solution you haven't thought of, and it's worth just trying to see if you can get any help.

One of my RAF apprenticeship instructors always used to tell us, "There's no such thing as a stupid question. Questioning is what advances our understanding."
He would then pause for a moment before finishing with "There are however, plenty of stupid answers'. :D

No worries. I'm not thin skinned.
Another old saying is 'The only stupid question is the one not asked'
Cheers

For anybody else who is wondering about this very thing. I am buying a car now in what I would term a contactless transaction. I have done my homework and I know exactly what car, trim, and addons I want. Then I did a national search and found the car.
I have seen pictures. Decoded the VIN. Examined the Carfax. Had a video conference inspection with the seller and the car. Had the seller take the car to a dealer for a (PPI) inspection. And if all goes well, a transporter will deliver the car, where it can sit and be disinfected before I drive it.
This is really no different than the way I bought my Zed last year. The process might help somebody else who is also classified high risk shop for a car in these unprecedented times 8)

I just can’t believe the direction this has taken.

I’ve typed many responses but none of them seem adequate to sum this up.

So you’ve bought a car without leaving the house. Well done Sir. Now, What do you want a car for if you feel it’s not safe to go out anywhere ?

Stop digging. You are just making yourself look smaller and smaller.
