Funny that I've been toying with this for a decade and always found a good reason not to do it. Now I find few not to go ahead given then it was always a E300 to E500 commitment (buy, build, on plan off plan, apartment, villa or whatever) now less than half.

I think properties have bottomed out. One interesting point is the Spanish banks have to dispose of properties thay have held onto for years. I've been looking at some they lent E400k on and are selling for E150k. This is a one time clearout. The Euro is so low now compared to a couple of years ago and I personally believe that it will survive and as soon as that happens rise.
Anywayz it's only money, great holiday home and I can't deal with just 2 weeks of warmth a year and endless rain. Equally I'm in a business I can run from anywhere in Europe and can fly to Malage return for £200.

Might even be the first forum member holiday place :)

Such places are E500 to E600 in high season. Half that outside peak and any major holiday periods (Christmas, Easter, etc.)
Always deals to be done with owners though.

I'm told for instance that it's now common for the Nordics to spend 3 or 4 months in Winter in these places to avoid the cold and dark. Pay around E1000 per month.
 
Make sure you have two desks over there when I work there :D

Off next week there actually, business as well but staying in a hotel.

Nice - Just come back from 2 weeks in the area myself.

I've no idea how you can justify the Marbella area in your business, but guess it makes it a deductable :)
 
Simple - working on a project in Russia, we (US, European, Russia and Indian teams) meet regularly in Dublin at the moment. Just got fed up with the scenery and the weather there so a Spanish member is organising it this time.

So a "real" business visit this time (staying a few days longer though and taking Mrs PVR as well ....)
 
So when are we organising the first forum cruise/holiday at Phils new place? :lol:

are there any more apartments available like the one you described?

I have been purchasing properties of late and want one more to finish off. one in the sun would fit the bill fine, but fears of land grabs and the likes have always put me off.

may not be as sunny as spain but some fantastic driving roads around the hills & forests :) with no plod :D

Good article MrWilks. Problem with USA is on the last line. Cost to get there and frankly nothing of interest once you do arrive in Orlando.

Gated community is to keep thieving toads out and probably Brits in.

CJ, I dove in a couple of years ago, retirement in the near distance and prices through the floor in the USA (not Spain unfortunately ). Prices dropped a hair and came back, I'm not looking for capital gain on it, not looking for rental income and we are perfectly happy with the results. We have a nice little condo in Chandler Arizona, gated , secure , with no outside maintenance. Pool, gym someone else does the grass :thumbsup:

I'll think about selling it in ten yrs or so......until then, they have a great little "Zee" car club in Arizona, mostly in the Phoenix area and I've been on a couple of runs with them. Tons to do in the area, Vegas is 5 hrs away, the desert is 5 minutes away, so ....

...eyes wide open, dive in and enjoy your place in the sun. You only live once... :D

Moped judging by the price of used cars in Spain :headbang:

Seriously though probably a hire car when you get into the rules and regs of either taking a UK car in, setting up a car as a tourist car, etc.
Right now why drive a car there when off peak Ryanair (who I hate with such a passion) is <£180 return.

Perhaps that changes if and when the balance of life moves from holidays to more split life between 2 homes, but that may be years off.
