After selling my 3.0 Z4 12 months ago i have decided i want another :D the reason i sold it was due to company car, i still have the company car but have decided i 'need' a Zed for the weekend. Because it will only mainly be used 1 day a week i dont really want to spend more than 5-6k.
On my small budget i think i will be looking at the 2.2 or maybe high milege 2.5, what is the 2.2 like? any advice and information would be much appreciated.

Cant wait to meet you all again on the runs :driving:

I'm new to the Z4 and I love the car, I've not really had a chance for a proper run out yet but feel it cuuld do with a bit more poke. I'd say try one first after the 3.0 you might find it a bit flat.

Welcome back. If the 3.0i is out of budget the 2.5 will have plenty pulling power.

Why not test drive a few and make your mind up?

Either way, hope you get what you're after :)

Everybody would want more power from their Zed if it were free. OTOH, you don't need big power to go around curves fast and have fun in your light, tossable, under-powered car. With a 3.0si, I'm maybe the wrong person to ask though. The main reason I like the extra power is overtaking slow traffic, not shaving time off a run through the twisties.

With the 2.2 you still get the 6 cylinder engine,a 2.2 was my first Zed and at the time was plenty powerful for me and great fun

Thanks for the advice. I think I really do need to try a 2.2 but get the feeling I will be disappointed.
My budget will probably need to stretch to another 3.0 :-)

As you've had a 3.0l before you will find the 2.2 a bit under powered, i always thought the 2.2 was enough but since having the coupe with 265bhp on tap i wouldn't want to go back down the power ladder
