Has the water pump been replaced and does the top work? Have they relocated the roof motor or cleaned out the drains consistently. Those are gonna be big ticket costs.
Fixing the roof motor isn't expensive, £150 should see even a dead motor sorted out. But even with the drains being regularly cleaned they still get wet so if its not been moved then budget to get it done.
Hello mate, the auto boxes in these cars are generally thought to be strong and reliable. It is unlikely that you will have any issues at such a low mileage if the car has been properly looked after. I don’t have any experience of these ‘boxes directly, but if you search the forum you’ll find lots of good info.
As stated above, if it’s your first foray into E85 ownership, there are other common issues you should be checking out - ABS pump (costly), rear coils (cheap), roof motor fixed/relocated (quite cheap), oil pump housing and valve cover gaskets (common source of oil leaks). Overall though, these cars are robust and easy to look after if you are handy with a spanner.

You may have already done some research but just so you know facelift Z4s had 2 versions of the 2.5 litre engine.
The 2.5i with a claimed 177 PS and the 2.5Si with a claimed 218 PS.
And both came in 2 trim levels, SE and Sport - the latter had the highly desirable M-Sport seats as standard.
So just be sure you know exactly which one you will be looking at and that it is priced right.

Hi Taylo,
I have the lower powered 2.5 auto. I find the box very smooth once warmed up. A little snatch on first change when cold but otherwise fine. It is serviceable and the transmission fluid and filter was changed before I bought my car. Depending on mileage might be worth doing if not in the service history.
