Driving around town today:

13.4 MPG

Where's my prize lol

I think I get that at the moment but I am only doing 4 miles each way to work ! When I did 12 miles each way I was getting 24mpg. On a run I get over 30mpg. The best i have had is 34mpg over a couple of hundred miles of A road and motorway ...

Town mpg is always going to be bad in anything compared to a run. I have a Smart diesel ... 799cc of diesel triple - government figures of 86mpg. I get about 30mpg on my 4 mile commute and 60 if I am lucky on a run. I guess that is a bit better than the 35iS !! The 35iS is somewhat quicker than the Smart diesel which is 16.4 to 62

Hi back to the origanal post .I have just purchase a 2012 35i and the power is smooth with no lag .the fuel economy is very poor ,but I didn't buy a 3lt for mpg .overall the z4 35i is fast and smooth with the dct .what is the difference between the 35i and the 35is ? Is it just the adaptive suspension and remap ?

Agree on the fuel Economy............not seen better than 17mpg in any of the weeks of my 7 months ownership. :

Must admit I have only done country roads and bypass not motorways ,but i only drive in sport or sport + :driving: 17 to 20 mpg

Mid to high twenties, per fill up with V-Power, that's over 3 years with ESS stage 2 and a heavy right foot.

I only ever got about 18mpg but I drive mine hard and fast and didn't expect better than that....I'm looking for another one online and there is a big shortage of them for anything near what I sold mine for, especially with DCT and 326's

Ever sell a car and think you sold it too cheap? 8)

Oh hell yes, you ain't alone Stark... :x

Done just over 600 miles so far and all motorway driving from London managed 35mpg. The remainder has been mixed between town and country roads and averaging 26 so far and I am still in the very playful stage :D :D :D

Drove over a hundred-twenty miles (around sixty there & back) on Sunday at very conservative speeds (50mph, with rare moments up to 60 or 70 and once above 110). It was torture but my passenger kept warning me about 250 Euro fines for the slightest infringement of the comically-low posted limits- whilst everything from Fiat Punto diesels and even buses and vans overtook us in droves.

I didn't see more than 23-point-something MPG. Jesus.

I assume that you've not reset the trip and journey trip as I think you'd probably get better results. However if your trying to see a marked increase without resetting the trip a 120 mile journey will make w slight difference but not anything of significance.

Maybe next time you do a long(ish) journey try resetting the journey trip and see what mpg you get from that.

I just did a 1350 mile trip up to the stunning Scottish Highlands for a holiday and with a real mix of different roads including single track roads with passing places and stunning clear mountain roads I got my 35i up to 32.1 mpg I don't hammer it but it gets pushed at times where it's safe to do so.

Anyone notice any difference in fuel consumption between sport and comfort mode?
My previous 28i gave 3 or 4 mpg better when in sport which was surprising.
