Buying a car that doesnt suit your driving needs..

Aye cos let's face it, we all NEED powerful rear wheel drive BMWs... :lol:

'Cos a 318i (or Ford Focus for that matter) would have been totally inappropriate for me.... :p

SWMBO's Clio suits our needs. Anything more than that is just sheer indulgence. But I love my zed.... :) Just wish I got to use her more

Live in Zone 2 in a one bed flat with no garage, work is generally 20 mins train away and I don't travel out of London much on business.

The Z4 cost me about £9/day in 2013 - total cost of ownership, including fuel but not depreciation - and a bit less in 2014. Even though it sits on the street most of the time it's still totally worth it for the odd occasion when I get to drive it to clients and, of course, regular blasts out of London. I didn't think it would be such an easy decision to own a car given my circumstances, but it's one of my most justifiable costs when you take into account enjoyment and freedom of movement.

I need to be warm a dry and safe driving to work each week day. :thumbsup:

Plus I definitely need a car capable of going sideways, at suitable velocities and carrying one person, in wind swept glory, 100- 200 miles, to the beach and back at weekends. :driving:
Plus I need a car for going to the shops in, that's economical for short journeys. :D
 
I live in London. I started with an Audi TT and a Westfield as a track car. I then swapped the TT for my Z4MC as a daily driver but also use this on the track alongside my Westie. I then bought an E46 320D to commute into Kent for work but couldn't resist the lure of my ///M half the time. I now work in London so I've swapped the 320D for an S2000 for my daily commute.

Net result - I have an impractical two-seater sports car for the track in the form of my Westfield, a impractical two-seater sports car for weekends and track days in the form of my ///M and a two-seater impractical sports car for commuting in the form of my S2000... Just don't ask me to collect you from the airport :D
 
The only car that fully fitted my driving needs was 317 pounds worth of rover 200. And what a beast it was :D

every other car has generally had two cylinders too many, two seats two few or two hundred more horse power than I strictly ''needed'' at the time, but I don't see that changing anytime soon :driving:
