Buying a 35i

Hi everybody,

I come here from the land of the E85 for some advice!

I have not driven an E89, but have read and watched lots of reviews, and it seems to be for me as a progression, in GT terms, from my 3.0i.

I have seen 2 x 35i advertised recently; both manual, blue, and low ish spec. One has 65k and the other 85k and priced at £9995 and £10995 respectively.

Is this too cheap making the assumption that they are genuine, good condition and well maintained cars?

I want to go FI over NA for a change.

The 65k DSB under £10k looks a steal , unless you are one who simply has to have a certain spec , it doesn't have nav :? no big deal for me as my Z is a weekender but maybe as a 5 day commuter you want the extra phone & features it has to offer ?
You would really have to go & take a look but from here i would say you could throw £2k onto that car & come April it would still look a cheap way into a twin turbo Z
Wheels are not big enough imo , the 89s have huge arches & even 19s don't fill them on OEM tyre sizes
The ivory sport trim may well look shabby in the real but the overall DSB / Ivory combo is a nice one & can't see why some folks see it as a negative
If you look closely you can see where the seatbelt has marked the drivers seat , this happens across the 89 range even on low milers , just one of those things to keep on top of & less noticeable on other trim colours

I think this is the best time to buy a car and a convertible especially. I think both cars are a bargain on paper of course and they wont stick around for long, if they are genuine adverts that is.

One of them already gone !!

That £10k one was an absolute bargain. So much car for the money.

It was lacking DCT and iDrive, which is why it was priced 3k below most other examples, probably been snapped up by a trader and will be listed back at £12k.

Wow , thought the 10 grand one would go fast but not THAT fast

You could buy that for full asking price, drive it all winter and still sell it for a profit come spring!

A shame one of them has gone - I may ring up the other one to see what it is like amg get a feel for the dealer.

Nowhere near me but I never mind travelling for the right car.

Where is it based? I am sure some members would be more than happy to go and test drive it for you if it is near them, and give you a first impression.

But again those are xmas bargain prices and you will have to move in fairly quickly (withing hours usually) . when I was looking, bargains were going withing 2 - 3 days.

The car is in Ipswich and I am between Portsmouth and Southampton.

If anybody is up there, and would have a look, that would be fantastic.

Additionally, if anybody is near where I am am I would love to have a look at their 35i and chat to see if it is what I want.

Thanks
