Any potential buyers please beware of this car... https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/495650927699560/

I think you might be a bit disappointed if you bought this and then saw the before repair photo's :(

Ignore this. I was asking why because I thought the second part of your post was your signature.
I’ve only had one bottle of beer as well!

Worth a warning. But iffffff it has been repaired properly then. It is worth something to someone.

Its a second hand oldish car so any buyer should have the intelligence to do the normal checks. If accident repaired then as the seller should make this known other than that it looks decent for the the money and it has Z4M bumpers so a must have :)

Is it CAT status?
not sure but there's photo's of it on this forum

Oh don't make us search for it - if its already public domain (which it must be) just post the link :headbang:
here you go..https://phpbb.z4-forum.com/forum/download/file.php?id=58012 https://phpbb.z4-forum.com/forum/download/file.php?id=58015 https://phpbb.z4-forum.com/forum/download/file.php?id=58032

If its just a replacement wing and as Rob says its declared then you make your choice and pay your money. If the panel alignment and gaps are all good with no inner damage/distortion then I'd be OK with that.

If its not known/declared by the seller then its a good bargaining point. Although that said its not included in the list of replacement items.

That said its a win for the forum alerting potential forum buyers - well spotted Woozzle!

Thanks for the link, the damage doesn't look to bad and if repaired well, should be fine. I bet there are plenty of cars that have hidden history.
This is approx 17 years old now, I think it's good that it's still on the road. I think it's a crime when you see quite modern cars being scrapped because of advisories on the MOT.
We have ASM recycle'er around here and the amount of decent looking cars on their trucks amazes me.
Good spot though Woozzle

That looks very minor IMO, not perfect, though appears a low speed impact given the limited length of the damaged area as a glancing blow

Can anyone on here honestly say their car has never had PDR, paint or paint correction to remove swirls/dings/chips? Should we all be 'warned off' these cars too :headbang:

I'd be more surprised/suspicious if a car of this age hadn't had some history of damages/repairs.

BTW, I'll be the first to say mine has had lots - and most of the time the photos can be found on here...including these from about a year after I bought the car...

Unless it has CAT status then the seller doesn’t have to say anything. As others have said how many of our cars haven’t had some sort of paint?

I don't know why I was expecting to see a smacked up car before I opened the pic :? Damage is pretty minor and guessing its had a replacment wing so as long as nothing is out of alignment you could have some summer use and sell it on without too much of a loss. Has to be cheaper than public transport :)

I agree the buyer should disclose any body work done. This does look minor if properly restored it should not be a problem.
In my search for the perfect E89 Z4 I found a 3.0 6spd Gray over red with all the extras. The car looked perfect and the price was right. Then the seller explained how the car had a modified title because the top had failed and the insurance company had totaled the car due to the high cost of replacement. This alerted me to start searching the internet for the vin number. I found the car at auction after a collision with both front and rear damage just a few months prior. Liars and cheats are out there. It pays to beware

I think I would be more cheesed off if it was a brand new car and the dealer didn't mention anything, its down to acceptable expectations. I think some people think if its been repaired to an acceptable standard and everything looks A1 then why disclose the repairs unless the buyer specifically asks? :?

In the UK, your road car insurance would not cover or have anything to do with your 'top failing', so don't see how this would be relevant to a pre-purchase check?

People who only do HPI check AFTER they've bought the car, and then moan about it simply do not have any sympathy from me

We also have different categories of insurance write-offs - 2 of them can be repaired and put back on the road, and the category is listed on the HPI checks...this is what a seller should be telling you.

However, there's also unscrupulous dealers/owners that will ask the insurer to pay them a settlement figure without writing it off (with the insurers agreement), and these can them be repaired to very different levels of quality, and put back on the road with no write-off marker next to them.

This guy was misrepresenting the car with a cock a mamie story and I figured it out and told him so. There are crooks out there looking to prey on the gullible. Too bad, because for me, it was the perfect car prior to the accident.
