That looks a bit more than a slight brush with the kerb and no amount of tyre rim protection will stop that, bloody annoying.
That's why I keep well away from kerbs

If it makes you feel any better I managed to curb one of my wheels a few weeks back. Had it repaired and then curbed the same wheel within two weeks. It's been repaired again but I'm starting to think I need curbed wheel fund

Ouch - that must sting a bit. Most annoying thing about mine is that I don't even remember doing it.
