Never fallen off a ladder before ever, I always use a stand off wherever possible and a base strap to stop it sliding. During covid-19 I’ve taken a few months off to get some roofing work done at home, renovate all the wooden windows and replace all the old cast guttering. Got as far as just needing to finish off the upper level guttering yesterday morning, climbed down to fetch a couple of brackets, slipped off a rung and fell 8 feet onto a big stone trough. 4 broken ribs, 3 of which have multiple breaks, broken scapula, punctured left lung and a 3 inch gash in my forehead exposing bone, so I’m in high dependency ward as we need to make sure the ribs don’t do anymore damage to the lung and it’s a nasty head injury also.
What a plank.....I’m so so careful with ladders but I simply slipped, the pain is something else....
