business Help!

OK guys I need some help with my business. I currently run my own detailing business as most of you will know. However i also work 5 days a week at a insurance bodyshop in leeds as a quality controller. The bodyshop has over 5000 cars a year pass through. Currently they outsource all their valeting jobs to another company who employ 2 lads to come in and wash cars before going back to the customer. however they have been having problems with the company and the 2 employees for more than a year and they are desperate to find someone else to do the work. The current lads earn per car and are currently taking between £450 & £500 per week. However they are responsible for supplying their own products and equipment.

Now the issue I have is that I want to put forward a business plan but have absolutely no idea how to put one together or what one would even look like. I already have two people in mind who I would have do the valeting work and I assume I would have them as contractors through my valeting business?

Any help would be great.
 
Speak to your bank business manager, the local chamber of commerce, or local small business charities/organisations about this.
There is LOTS of free help available from people who will be able to have a conversation with you about what you specifically do and how to structure a business plan.
There are also lots of not initially obvious costs to running a business ( such as your company Z4 :) ) they will be able to advise about this too, so you don't end up losing money the harder you work.
Are you thinking of just washing and hoovering, or saving them some money by polishing out stuff that they would normally spray?

Hi - I write business and marketing plans. All the help above is a great start. However, most people write it to fulfill corporate strategy needs, raise money etc. Considering you are already in business - do you need one to raise money?
 
For a proposal I don't really think there is a right and wrong way.

Quite simply, I'd set out what you would plan to do (i.e. a brief narrative). Explain why you are the right person for the job (your CV and experience) and finish off with your pricing.

You're aware of the issues they are having, but I'd steer clear of making any negative comments relating to the current set-up, just speak positively about yourself and your own proposal.
 
tell them things like
experience
what you do
how many of you work on the vehicle
how long roughly you should take on each car
price for the type of jobs
what extras you can provide like autogaurd ect if you do although i am sure a insurance company will just want the usual clean Inside and out maybe and proberly wax or polish.

then they will normally send it to headquarters and wait for a comeback

And get in there quick before its too late
 
Would your employers not see this as a conflict of interest?

You are a full time member of staff but also own a company that they pay to do their valeting.
