Hi Guys

I'm going to view a 2003 plate 3.0l SE with 55k miles on the clock. The last two MOT's show advisories for both nearside and offside 'front rear suspension arm rubber bush's. Also it's going to need new brake pads and discs all round pretty soon.

Can anyone advise me how much these items are going to cost to replace?

Thanks. :)

Ive just had the front control arm bushes replaced on mine... £286 at the dealer. Most other garages wouldnt touch it...

Gotta say though if it's had 2 advisories I'd be asking what other things haven't been taken care of :o

You can get quotes for disc online via national tyres etc... came out at around £500 fitted when I looked.

Mintex Discs and EBC Greenstuff Pads all round you can get for £200(ebay) + fitting all round. Its really not that hard to do yourself either!

Welcome to the forum mate, where in South Yorkshire are you from?

Hi, thanks for the concerns. I'm having second thoughts myself but will take a look just in case it turns out to be a steal. It's got all the right spec, even dvd/tv. The only options not added are the upgrades to the leather.

I intend to maintain whatever I buy proactively but just don't want to be landed with a bill of £1k straight away. I'm looking at some quotes for extended warranties as we speak.

The rear suspension coils were replaced at half the current mileage so I will be checking those. Also there have been no issues with sticky steering, hence no repairs to the steering column. Was this an issue on a 2003?

Thanks for any advice. :)

Hi, thanks for the welcome. 8)

I recognise the name..did you use to go to Lady Manners and own a vx220?

I live in the Peak District but work in Shef city centre. Hopefully moving to Shef in the next month or so unless a z4 financially cripples me.

£200 + fitting sounds a bit better!

Are you running Mintex, Ed? How'd you find them?

I was considering Mintex + redstuff... but there's also a set of Brembo discs (rears are vented) on ebay, which would work out at £300 with Redstuff. Not sure if it's worth the extra £100 for the brembo discs or not :?

I've just fitted on my '03 EBC turbo groove discs all round with yellow stuff pads.Really chuffed with the set up so far. Cost £ 330 with the forum group buy last Autumn.Just over £ 400 individually.
