Burning Smell

Hi Guys,

Out for a short drive and got a bad smell inside the car - like burning plastic. Driving normally. Stopped and lifted the bonnet (hood for American friends!). Smell pretty bad, mainly on the passenger's side. Can't see any leaks etc.

Left it for an hour and took it out again - burning smell started almost immediately.

Will bring it to the stealer during the week.
Any ideas, suggestions in the meantime?

Did you look underneath the car? Perhaps you picked up something plastic like a bag from the road that is melting on your exhaust?

Thanks. Yes, thought of that and that's what it smells like. Had a look but can't see anything. However, smell is strongest in the engine compartment.

JVE89 was right, a plastic bag had melted onto the exhaust - what a stink and a bugger to remove! back to normal now
