Burning Smell?

Has anyone had any experience of a burning smell coming from the engine (possibly the gasket)? Im aware of a burning smell when I start the car and can see a very slight bit of smoke coming from around the engine, its very diffuse and slight so not able to pin point it. No oil leaks that I am aware of or electrical issues, everything is fine and the ride is brilliant, esp taking it up some high revs on windy roads

Has to be an oil leak. Put it up on a lift and check.

Is the car a 2 litre, my car had the same problem, vacum pump. Oil seeps past O-ring whch has shrunk over time, then drips on exhaust which burns off on start up.
