Bumper respray

My wife has scratched the front bumper and it looks like it will need a full respray.

Any ideas how much it will cost for this?

I was thinking of getting BMW to do it while it was in for it's Inspection1 in a fortnight - would that be far more expensive than an independant coach works?

well if its any help I had my elise bumper fully resprayed at a garage down the road from me with the fibre glass repaired all for £150 cash. It was the metalic grey. Not sure if that helps as a ball park for you but let me know how much you get quotes in for as would be interested to know the difference pearlesant paint (and possibly the badge) makes.

Go to the independent Bodyshop as that's what your dealer might well do and probably charge a markup for the privelige, I was at a Rugby pactice one night a few years ago when some dozy twonk reversed into the front of my Zed, one new bumper and headlight later, I digress, after I put the car in for repair at my then local BMW dealer I was contacted by Tracker to be informed that my car was moving without the ignition being on, the car was a truck being taken from the dealer 20 miles away to a bodyshop round the corner from where I was living at the time.

I'm sure my local BMW gargage in Glasgow uses it's own bodyshop but would imagine it will be ££££££.

Am I right in thinking that any scratch which goes through the top layer of paint requires a full bumper respray?
I'm abroad at the moment so waiting for the wife to send me a couple of pics to gauge the damage.
She says it's not dented, only scratched but it's gone through the paint.

Has anyone ever used or heard feedback on 'touch up' companies like chipsaway etc?

tbh my bmw dealer said they "have a guy that comes round to repair scratches" so its definatly not done on site in Bath, as I think the guy forgot his tools when he touched up my car before I bought it p#"s poor job. If your in/near bristol can recomend SGH body works, brilliant job!!

Local bodyshop everytime. You 'd be looking at £150 to £200 I'd double that at a BMW dealers
Had my front done by a local shop when I did a bumper change and excellent results

Smart repair?? If the scratch is small enough.

I rang around looking for quotes to have my front bumper sprayed and was quoted on average about £250. I then went to a few garages in person and and found I could have it done for £130. They were a big operation with lots of insurance work in, Audi A5's and Range Rovers etc. So always best to get down to a few in person.
