im my cleaning exploits i was getting up close and personal with the car and realised the front bumper is really nasty. there are a few scuffs and bits of plastic on the bottom lip and lots of chips. it looks like some one has previosly tried to fill the holes as they all seem to be a light red in colour.

couple this with a scratch i did on a chuffin plantpot trying to be nice to apease a neighbour i think it needs attention

the rest of the car is ok but its an 04plate and shows the signs with liitle scratches chips etc here and there.

so qustions are.

if i resprayed will it look odd with the rest of the car?
if i get it respayed will it fill in the multitude of chips so its smooth or will it just at lease be one colour
ball park what are the costs? should i leave the car or take it off myself

I'd say:-

1) No
2) Yes if it is done competently
3) I was quoted £200+VAT from a BMW dealer, but in the end i had the bonnet done as well so paid £500+VAT.

I have a similar issue with stone chips on the front bumper, especially on the drivers side. It has been like that since I bought the car. I am not sure if it is better to respray or try a touch up paint first to see how it will look. I believe the quality of the paint that BMW uses could have been better in that respect. I also have stone chips at the end of each side skirt

Your best bet is to have all the scratches and dents sorted out prior to any paintwork... It's normaly just a simple case of a small amount of filler which is then sanded down to smooth it out, you can get hold of exact colour codes which match your current paintwork which caan be submitted to most decent body painters who will then match the colour 100%.

Or you can go through the route of being a bit mental and go for a full body wrap for complete fun! It's summer soon! Go for a mad colour! 8)

you would need a crap load of touch up paint for this bumper! it looks like some one took a machine gun to it!

it wasnt like that when i bought it a year ago and i think it was pretty smooth if i remember right so i would say the garage must have done some sort of half cocked respray on it and its fallen out over time. i think the clay also took bits out.
