Bulb warning light still on

Had a small problem over the last couple of days whereby the angel eye bulb went and after a 4 hour battle yesterday I managed to change it.

However, the warning light on the dash is still on and so is the right indicator. Does anyone know what the cause might be? Do I have to reset anything? The only potential cause I can see is because it was a 10W bulb and I replaced it with a 4W bulb, maybe it thinks the light isn't lit?

Any help would be grand!

Thanks

Indicator on, i had that when i put led sidelights bulbs without canbus error. Could well be to do with lower wattage

As above. When replacing bulbs with the proper item I have sometimes had it take a few minutes to clear a bulb warning.

Right indicator, so the issue is on that side. If that is the side where you replaced the bulb then that is the cause.

Not sure why you changed with the wrong wattage though as the current level will change (p=v*i)

Yep that's why I changed the angel eye bulb that was out on the right hand side. I learnt the hard way that this is BMW's way of telling you a bulb needs replacing. The indicator bulb was lit up whilst the bulb was out but after replacing the bulb it was still on.

I had to go with a 4W unfortunately because that's all that was on offer at Halfords and with it being boxing day I was limited for stores to try and ensure the battery didn't go flat for the second time. I'm going to have to search about a bit more for the correct bulb.

For those unaware, strictly speaking it isn't a case of just replacing the bulb, it's sealed in a bracket which BMW want you to buy a complete replacement for but with a bit of diy you can remove the bulb and replace with another.

I got my repayments ones from here

Did try Halfords first but had the same issue as you.

If you replace with a lower wattage the it will through up an error code as the car checks bulbs when cold and warm, you can use navcoder to not check the bulbs, this will stop the light on the dash but I would get the correct bulb.

:) I just had similar symptom.

I swap front parking bulb to cheap led one. Front indicator turned on immediately and when I swapped original bulb back it took about half a minute and everything was normal again.

I have this bulb warning light on also, but I have no bulbs out, seen other posts about this issue saying it could be one is about to go and giving lower watt reading, or as above one is a lower wattage. I was wondering as most facelift z have the condensation in the fog lights could this cause the warning light ?

ok, after 3 weeks of looking at it I got my screwdriver out and started to remove the rear light clusters to start replacing bulbs one by one until I found the culprit. I had read on the forum somewhere about the z only having a off side fog light, this is true but the near side also has a bulb and holder in it to maintain continuity and guess what, that had gone. replaced it and the dash warning light went off, glad I started at the back and not the front, hope this helps someone in the future.
also drilled four small holes in the under side of the front fog light lenses, that's cured the condensation.
