Bulb out - please help identify what I need, thanks!

Evening all. My drivers side main bulb is out - could you please help identify me to identify whether I need a halogen or xenon bulb replacement?

I've read a fair few other threads, but decided that I'd share some evidence of my own situation to try and get a definitive answer.

I originally though halogen... but now I am not so sure! No headlamp washers on my 2.5si by the way, nor stickers under the bonnet. Perhaps this was originally a halogen car but was changed to xenon's by a previous owner?

Photos of my working headlights below and also of the interior light panel, as I get the impression it will help!

The colour of your working bulb I’d say you have aftermarket bulbs fitted

They look too white compared to factory halogens

I’d pop the back off the non working side to see what’s in there

You have a thumbwheel to adjust the headlight height so your car wasn't built with Xenons.

As bigwinn said you'll need to take one out to find out what has been fitted.

Yup take the old bulb out and see if you/we can identify it. Maybe post a photo here.

They're h7's for the low beam. The headlight lens should be marked h7.

Sorted!

I cheated and took the car to a small automotive retail shop a 5-min drive away. They confirmed it was a halogen and replaced it for me. I was in and out within 20-mins, without having made an appointment.

Total cost for bulb and fitting? £10.

Long live small independent businesses!
