Just got my renewal in from the wee red phone. Up to £695 :o :o :o

Went online to their own site and put details in and quote came up for £320

Phoned them up and got renewal for this price instead. :D Feck me over half price, these robbin bassas probably rely on wee grannies etc just accepting it and paying their direct debits without noticing.

No doubt most of you query all your insurances each year like I do but just a wee reminder

They tried to charge me an extra £800 on my car insurance from last year, so went on a comparison and saved £1000 on there quote with sainsbury`s finance. Cant believe they dont think people will notice. Robbing b*stards.

What the, £320!! Sounds alot?! Mine is £120 a year, with abroad cover (vital given all travel insurance = pants). Plus I got cash back on that.

I've heard Marks + Spencer home insurance are the same: they charge a fortune on their renewals, but if you go through their website as a new customer with the same details, it comes out a lot cheaper. Very cheeky of them to do that to existing customers :x

As a side note, I'm kind of tied into them as no other home/contents insurer I've found covers my bicycles automatically (they cover any item up to £4k without having to list them on the policy). They also provide cover away from home for a little extra. much cheaper than separate policies for the bikes - ours are a significant value. About half the MTBing community is insured with M+S as a result...

Post Office worked out cheapest for us, also includes cover for burst pipes and similar plumbing emergencies.

Direct line cover bikes on their insurance plus scheme which also has home emergency and other stuff, travel insurance free etc, (I didnt need this so added bikes as an extra) £20 on to premium

Oh, thanks for that

Took a very quick look at their insurance plus benefits: http://www.directline.com/home/welcome.htm - covers "personal possessions up to £5,000 as standard. If that includes bike then that's fantastic - we've got 7 bikes between me and the wife with total value of ALOT. Is that a relatively new product? I don't recall seeing it before but will certainly get a quote when our renewal is due next month.

I did mine this time with Tesco`s, really very good policy, their "finest" one  and very reasonable

Badly need to get on top of this, i've been renewing for the last couple of years as i've not got round to it. An insurance mans dream me :(

My mum was with aviva paying around £300 for basic contents only as we half building insurance included in the rent. I looked into getting it cheaper which i did, £150 with churchill with all the extras and zero excess. Cancelled with aviva by ending the direct debit payments as we couldnt get through on the phone and they send a letter saying are policy will end as they cant take any more money. Rang them up and they tried to charge £25 to cancel the policy even though it ran out this month.

We then get a renewal quote from them which states due to the increase in value of contents (we havent changed or declared anything else) we have to have locks fitted to all the windows and doors downstairs, they have to be approved locks and locked at night at all times. Are windows dont have locks and our back door doesnt have an 'approved' lock.
