Very nice work indeed really goods looks the partbjd said:I love it, I wish you documented the build process... I think I'd like one myself, go on - what does one need to do?
janranger said:Thanks for the nice compliments, and yes it`s a genuine roadster. The sequence goes like this:
1. open the soft top and stow it away;
2. dis-connect the (new installed) connector in the wire loom;
3. remove the lower bolts of the trunk lid hinges, and loosen the top bols;
4. Lift the trunk lid out of the hinges and lay it aside, remove the hinges, keep the bolts at hand;
5. place the hardtop exactly the same way as the original one, use the 4 hinge bolts to fit the aft legs of the hard top onto the inside wings where normally the hinges are fitted;
6. make the connection with the connector in the wire loom;
7. slide the new trunk lid hinges under the loosened nuts, and lower the trunk lid so that the locking mechanism alines with the slot in the rear boot;
8; carefully open it again and tighten the nuts, check if it nicely aligned;
9. connect the lower attachment bolts of the gas struts on the bracket, check if everything works, lock, lights.
Step away and enjoy the metamorfosis. all in all half hours work (I got the hang of it because I performed it a hundred times) due to the fact that I used the car every day during the construction.
I will later explain the build process in more detail.
