must have hit a pothole or something at some time and get a puncture, hmm ok the tyre is 75% worn so change time and the tyre fitters find a crack in the alloy :-( anyone had any joy with repairs? :(
 
Decent refurbishers such as Platinum in Swindon are experienced in grinding out and repairing cracks in alloy wheels

Ade Flint had cracks in two of his Alpina wheels and had them ground out and welded by Platinum and he was impressed by how much they know about crack propagation and how to repair alloy (and it's something he knows a fair bit about himself)
 
Not so true. A properly repaired wheel is as strong as it was before.

I had a set of CSL reps crack after a bit of 'off-roading' on a track day. It was repaired and continued on with many more track days/general driving for another 3 years until i sold the car. Could well still be going strong for all i know.

+1 the emphasis being on the word properly - there are a lot of cowboys out there so you need to use someone who knows what they're doing
