Hi guys!

Thought I'll open up the thread to keep a list of things I do and change on the car over my owners ship. Have had the car since December 2016. Thread is mainly here for me to keep a log of things I do to it over my time with the car.

Just serviced/MOT'd.

Pictures a day after getting her, cleaning and waxing to make sure she's ready for the harsher months!

Soon after I have plasti-dipped(removable rubber coating) the grill in black -;

bad picture but shows the work done -;



then I went on the hunt for some Z4M alloys as I'm not a fan of the ride on 19 CSL wheels, found a set being sold by the forum member here, collected them and on my way back -;

Gear knob has been changed to ZHP too. -;

feels lovely!

after a couple of weeks I finished the Style 224 wheels and put them on the car, refurb was done by my self, not perfect but for £37 material cost and 8 hours of my time I'm happy!




set of goodyear eagle f1 as3's to go with the wheels.



While I was swapping the wheels I also noticed that the rear spring has snapped, so I installed 2 new suplex standard height/fit springs on the rear(other side was getting rusty too so was only a matter of time)



New headunit installed, not a huge fan of how it looks but its function over form this time, sounds better than stock too! gives me bluetooth and usb!



Some fresh parts have been fitted by me -;

New lolipop bushes both sides
new drop bar links
track rods

took it to a garage to get new miele control arms installed and alignment done -;

she drives spot on now! :) took it for a little b-road blast last night!

Gave her a good clean yesterday and applied a new coat of wax!

Things I'm planning to do in the future -;

[*]Suspension upgrade to either bilstein b12's or KW3's
[*]Backbox mod
[*]colour the seat bolster(tiny bit of wear but I need it perfect)
[*]sort out the chips on the front bumper
[*]Sort out the two small parking dings it has

Yup, wanted it driving spot on before the nice weather comes! :) Didn't need to replace that many suspension bits but I thought if I'm spending money on alignment I might as well refresh the things that commonly go wrong and will be tired after 59k miles.

Suspension is on my list too. I've got half decent tyres on now and had the alignment a month or so ago... But that was before I researched the alignment info properly! :headbang:

I'm still getting some twitchiness at speed so bushes and arms on the list plus looking into coilovers as shocks and springs are probably worse for the wear too.

Mine seems to be very stable now! Was floating around on 19s before.

Get hunter alignment done by a good garage and it'll be fine, fresh bushings up front will help too. In total it was close to £300 for parts for me, that includes -;

Front rear control arm bushes (lolipops)
Drop links
Tie rods
Front control arms

Thanks for the responses guys! I love how the 224s look too, one of the best wheels for z4 in my opinion. Still bedding in the as3s but first impressions are great.
 
I love CSLs but your 224s look fantastic, especially in that colour! :thumbsup:

Also nice to see another Coupe with Cirrus aluminium trim - IMHO it's so much better than the brushed aluminium that most seem to have.

Looking forward to the updates. :lol:
 
Looks great, love the 224's. I wish I had the bottle to refurb my own wheels, would save so much money but I'm too scared to risk ruining mine.

were you able to connect the steering wheel buttons to the head unit? I'm assuming there is a cable running from the steering column around to the back of the head unit and its just a simple plug and play.

Look forward to seeing where you go from here :thumbsup:

I do like the trim too! I think it looks much fresher than plain brushed alu!

There's an extra box in the loom that I had to buy, which allows controls from the main loom. Problem is that my headunit struggles to accept up/down as two buttons and only registers ONE. So say I can have volume up but not down as that will error out saying the button is already in use. My main use for steering wheel buttons is volume up/down and next track so what I've done is configure Volume up as volume up, next track as volume down and voice button as next track.. bit weird but when in use it works okay!
 
Got my tips from machine monkey, installed them yesterday and do like the more aggressive fit! :)

Nice, how did you get the old ones off?
Mine seem to be well stuck on.
 
Did you have to do any mods for the M wheels to fit?. Didn't think they were compatible on the coupe.
My favourite wheel.

Pretty easy, just twist and pull they just came off without any resistance really. Took me all of 5 mins to install.

Nope no mods, tyres are standard size too. Only real difference is the offset on the rear :) car is on m sport suspension.
