Bucket seats

Hi I have looked through the site but can't seem to find any information. Hoping someone will know.

I've just got a set of new recro seats as mine are showing age now.

So my question is,

Can I stip the old seat down and take the heating pads out and put them in the new seats?
Cheers

I'd guess it's possible, but you'll have to be careful as they may be stuck to the old seats. You'll also have to keep the electronics from under the original seat to go with it, and affix them to the bottom of the new seat.

I haven't kept the heating element in mine as the alcantara is warm enough, and I've simply put a occupancy mat under the passenger seat cushion rather than an ebay bypass.

Have you checked the Recaros fit properly, as mine are a VERY tight fit and will only move forward & backwards about an inch - with the Recaro locking sliders.

You wouldn’t still have the plugs off the heated seats would you?

Sorry, mine are still in the seats I took out - ready for when I eventually decide to sell the seats/car.

Love them seats 😍 I've not even looked to see if they fit yet. I think I'm going to see if I can fit them tomorrow. I'll worry about the heaters later.
What did you do about the air bags?

If you mean the airbag occupancy sensor in the passenger seat (there isn't one in the driver's seat as it's assumed there's always a driver in the car) - then I've just put a spare sensor mat under the Recaro cushion and connected it underneath using the original connector block.

My recaro poles slide all the way back and forward no bother 🤷🏽‍♂️ Planted technology floor mounts with recaro side mounts .

Are these 560mm wide at the shoulders? No problems size wise with the fit, and full backwards forwards slide?
Very nice trim with the cloth and matching thread.

The shoulders on mine (a pole position ABE) just touch the door - so when you open it you can see the little depression they've caused - but it doesn't stop the door closing.

My clearance issue is on the floor as the front of the seat hits the transmission tunnel if I go too far forward, and the seatbelt mount hits the rear of the carpeted area of the transmission tunnel when I got back too far. I could got forward/back probably 6 inches - but only the first 2 inches either way don't interfere with the trans tunnel.

Don't know if the Z4M tunnel is any different - wouldn't have thought so.

Are they standard Pole Positions, or ABE version?

The ABE is 20mm wider on the hips - so that might be my issue - but I'm not a small lad, so wanted the slightly wider seat for the amount of daily driving I do in the car - and I wanted it road legal. The ABE is TÜV approved so is legal on the Ring during public sessions (and on the road), the Pole Position is not (but you'd be unlikely to be caught out as it looks so similar.
