Bucket List

Well - a bit corny - but I 'died' 6 years ago - a silent killer - cardio myopathy - it's what runners die of when they collapse on marathons etc - but god willing my wife's CPR and 7 (yes seven) blasts of the electric pads eventually got my heart going again. Whilst having a defribulator fitted in the hospital the 'bucket list' did indeed come to mind (as you can imagine!)
Can honestly say that happily I had done all I wanted and much more - so, at the time, was able to tell friends and relations not to worry if the worst was to happen - I genuinely felt there was nothing especially I regretted or felt frustrated in not having done and there were many things I had achieved and done which were beyond my dreams and wishes - I felt I'd had a wonderful life to that point.
There was one thing I had not achieved and that was a freefall before I was 40. I subsequently went to Milton Keynes and 'experienced' the freefall in their wind airkixs facility - that'll have to do now.
The moral - do it when you can as you never know what's ahead!
(This is not meant to be a downer on this thread - far from it - make the most of every day and get those lists ticked off!)

WOW Paul glad all is well and good words

Just one thing, To own a large villa on a greek island built on top of a coastal hill and from my bed i can see out the large french windows with linen curtains gently wafting in the warm breeze as dolphins frolic just off the coast.

:D

That and to star in a porno

I can help with dream #1 :)

You gonna pay for it as well? :D

You are always welcome to come visit me in my house. Nothing to pay for tbh :)

I was 49 years old and this was totally unexpected - very lucky to survive (a calm and very capable wife) and no brain damage - though I have an excuse for forgetting things now..........where was I..........oh yes - lucky indeed. The worse thing was not being able to drive for 6 months - no motorbike and I had just qualified flying microlights (just as well I hadn't collapsed on a cross country solo - though would have been a romantic way to go - better than collapsing in a department store) - lucky to be in the city - was hiking in a Northumberland Valley the day before - no phone signal - so lucky again......with my wife who acted decisively (survival rate very low normally) thank God we were together - so get those dreams fulfilled and don't hesitate!

PS Vendor - love that batman image at the bottom of your post - brilliant! :D

Run the London Marathon
Win a triathlon
Hit a century break
Go to America, get the taxi driver to take me to a random bar out of town, pull 3 birds called Stacey, Jeannie and Carol-Anne (basically that scene from Love Actually)
Fly a plane
Be Remembered

That'll do for now, may add some later :D

I know someone out there, can I recommend doing that one the other way round? Boca stadium is a s**t hole

Mine would be:

1. Snowboard down something massive in Alaska, like 7601
2. Go to the I.S.S. for some zero-G action
3. Spend a few months trying for a lap record round the Nordschliefe in a M3 GTR
4. Fly a Blackbird SR71 or something else suitably fast

I hope whatever I'm dying of isn't too debilitating, most of those need me to be quite healthy!

hi Carol

Covertly watching mainly :)

Nice subject though intresting thoughts as to what we all need to squeez in. Just got me thinking of some of the people I respect and would like to meet.

Back to my mountain hiking / climbing events and be worry free. Having a care free holiday without having to attend meetings or getting calls.

The worry free bit is prevented by having family :)

Very generous offer,

I love the Greek Islands, we moved to Cyprus in 1968 and lived there for 4 years, I was 8 when we left, This was before the Turk/Greek war on Cyprus, I have many many memories from that time in my life and have always held an affection for the Greeks, all based on the warm and generous nature we were shown in Cyprus and on the occasions I have visted other Islands.

Get in the latest Range Rover drop of the two new lab pups at the kennels and drive from Scotland to the recently purchased Appartment in the 3 Valleys for some spring ski-ing. Over the radio Liverpool are beating Man United 8-0 in the Cup ( they only fixture that year since utds relegation).

As we arrive in the alps I take a call to say I've been accepted on next years Clipper round the world yacht race ....

That should cover it

1. Find a cure for death so that there's no more need for bucket lists.*

Just kidding, sort of.

I starting thinking about this and quickly came to the conclusion that it's a really difficult question, because it comes down to what's really important to you (me) personally ... and even at the tender age of 57 I'm still not quite sure.

It's also clear that I've already started ticking a few of the "things I've always wanted to do" items off the list. Owning a nice convertible and traveling around a bit is one of them. Enjoying that. I'm also on a huge RC aircraft kick at the moment, building and flying helis and planes (great fun). But although those are things I've always wanted to do, somehow I don't feel that they're worthy of "bucket list" status.

But then, maybe I just don't understand life. Highly probable.

Thanks for a great topic that actually made me think!

* Oh what a crowded world it will be.
