Bubbling on badges

I went to look at a 2007 Z4MC today, the BMW boot opening badge and the BMW side indicator badges were bubbling badly, as was the badge on the bonnet - is this common - can they be replaced.

Also, the colours were fading on the M badge on the back - looked like it had been over polished - is that common.

Should I expect that from any of these cars from 2006/07 or was this bad care in previous years.

Thanks.

Badges are easily replaced on all cars. I have ordered up new wheel centre caps etc. for when I get my wheels done in spring. I did notice some fading of the badge colours on mine also. But its small beer. I think they are the least of your worry when buying an M car. Get an inspection done if you are in any doubt about the cars condition.

Yep, totally common on a 12-year-old car. Replacement stickers for the stripes are £6 and the bonnet badges are about £40 a pop for genuine ones. If the rest of the car checks out then this is no reason not to buy.

There was bubbling on the boot badge of my 2010 e89 when I got it. A new OEM badge cost £45. It is stuck on and needs to be prised off. You need to clean the crud from the mounting plate and then stick on the new one. It comes with adhesive on the badge.

Before and after.
