I have just had BT Infinity installed. Engineer just this second gone.

Infinity is BT's answer to Virgin and other fibre network suppliers. The fibre optic cable only goes as far as the junction box I understand, then from there to home is still copper.

On testing, (and it takes 10 days to settle down) I am getting 19.5mb download, and 3.5mb upload. I used to get 2.3mb download and 350kb upload.

Will report back if anyone interested to know.

Residential, in the heart of blond, ugg booted, showing your navel territory (and that's just the blokes)

The green box is about 1/4 mile from me. This is like having the exchange there, instead of being miles away. So, speed is darn good at moment. I think it goes up to 40mb, but I have been told I will never get that.

well, it's handy for my doctorate on the Bayesian Theory of Mathematical Probabilities.

So lucky...

I speed-tested my standard BT internet at 0.4mbps download and 0.2mbps upload last night - that's about the evrage for it. Utterly hopeless - it's because we're approx 6.5km from the exchange, apparently. No cable in my street ether so we're stuck with that pathetic level of service. And I don't even stay rural either!

Not even a decent 3G signal so a mobile dongle isn't an option :(
