My broadband has just been upgraded to fibre optic wire from copper wire. The download speed is now 29Mb from 2Mb, and upload speed is now almost 8Mb. I now pay exactly the same as before but extending the contract with BT. The deal also came with free new Home Hub and Hub Phone. :D

Mine has just been taken over by talk talk. Put the price up from £9 per month to £20 and offered to reduce it if I take other services :thumbsdown:

"Fibre Optic" is not wire, it's made of glass hence "optic"
 
cant get it my area, I pay O2 £7.50 a month for mine and get about 5.5mb download - which is more than my line should be able to give given the distance to the exchange :D
 
Oh piss off you lot! Stop boasting :poke:

I'm stuck here approx 6.5km from the nearest exchange which means my "up to 8MB" BT Broadband maxes out at 0.4MB download and 0.1MB upload :x . No cable in the street, no 3G signal so even a mobile dongle thingy won't work.

Not bitter in the least!
 
Same as you here aiiy - but I get to laugh at my friend down the road who can still only get dial-up :poke:
