My wife and I had a long weekend in New York a couple of weeks ago and I have to say it was a more 'edgy' experience than it has been previously. I found myself more vigilant and alert in crowded situations and sadly suspicious. You can't help looking at people and wondering about their ethnic and/or religious background and their reason for being there etc. I don't want to be like that but I'm afraid that's where I am at. It was most prevalent at JFKs American Airlines check- in on the way home. We checked- in our luggage on the pavement outside and then joined a queue for the security check inside. We queued for 1.5 hours ! Anyone with a mind to could have detonated a car bomb outside or walked inside and mingled with the huge crowd before detonating a concealed device. The result would have been devastation and mass carnage....like Brussels today. Will it stop me travelling? No. We cannot give in to these bast*rds.

What I find hard to fathom is how come 2 guys looking pretty shifty from the released mugshots wearing a Michael Jackson glove can waltz into an airport donning suicide belts and suitcases full of explosives. Unbelievable if you ask me considering Europe is supposed to be on a continued high state of alert. Heads certainly need to role at that airport.

But what annoys me even further are the politicians (Obama) who come out of the woodwork after these events spouting we must show solidarity, support the people of Belgium, these people won't win etc, basically the same old retoric, and the carnage carries on. I'm starting to think Donald Trump is actually talking some sense that it will be boots on the ground if he came to power. Only way I can see this will ever be resolved by going after the source of all these problems and eradicating it rather than letting them come to us.

Sorry, I don't buy it. These excuses of men are cowardly cutns, purely targeting innocent people like you and me. Their objective, is so old fashioned, obsolete in this day of age. They genuinely think they will take over the world spreading their utter rubbish.
It hits home all too easily, just look at the vacation thread on here and see how much we all travel. It could be anyone. I'm flying from Heathrow next week... As I'm sure are a lot of others here visiting prime targets.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not in any way condoning any of this ridiculous killing, but the fact is our governments have committed terrible acts in countries like Iraq and Syria in the name of saving 'democracy', when in reality it was the lure of easy money.....and those acts have a consequence, which we are seeing, to which we will then pummel the sh*t out of another 'military' target (again funny how it becomes a target in the week after an attack)!
Do we not find it peculiar that the 'terrorists' never seem to target the high level financiers or politicians who seem to run our society?
How in the modern world do we feel it's necessary to devote such a disproportionate amount of budget to buying weapons of mass destruction. Why do we let that happen when we have old folk who can't afford to heat their home and eat properly??? I've read reports before that over 20% of the american public are directly or indirectly employed by the department of defence...so, if that's true then there has to be an agenda to serve that.
And 100% agree, if it happened to my family I would go apesh*t...and so perpetuates the cycle! It's a bullsh*t world we live in at times, maybe it's human nature.

My heart is indeed saddened by the needless loss of life and there is no condoning the targeting and taking of civilian lives in any military action but every nation is guilty of this crime, with the probable exception of Switzerland. Violence begets violence and our politics don't help.
It's North Korea though that is really scaring the s**t out of me, if ever there was place and time for intervention in another countries affairs this must surely be it. However the consequences of such actions will be felt long afterwards and the circle of violence continues
