Broken Springs - List (add yourself if you've been affected)

Squeak squeak... My RHS rear has gone, has dropped about 1cm in height too.

Rang around 3 local BMW dealers, pricing was similar for each to do the repair but one (Elms) said they could not fit it in until the 6th May, today is the 10th April! The one I have chosen for the job is Listers and they can do it tomorrow. :-) They will also go over the car and check a small oil leak for me too, hopefully I will report back with a positive story....

All sorted, good service from Listers.... Oil leak fixed for no cost, and they even cleaned up the mess!

To add to the list. Broken driverside, where the coil thins to the pig tail.
Replaced full set with Eibachs... much better, should have done this 5yrs ago broken or not :)

One more...

Checked mine today while getting new tyres, both rears springs broken at 60,000 miles.

According to the guy in Hi-Q this is common on a lot of BMW's especially Z4's and M3's but other models too.

Add me to the list - '03 3.0i SE. N/S bottom @ 65k miles. Replaced with a pair of Suplex springs.

Sign me up. I got under mine last weekend, and the passenger side has snapped at the pigtail.

I'll be collecting my OEM replacements from BMW tomorrow morning and fitting in the afternoon!

Add me to the list: r/h side rear had snapped so will get both replaced on a 2007 3.0Si Coupe at 75000km (47,000 miles)

Add me AGAIN.

I had my driver side (its a LHD tho) go last year - Got a set of used springs off Ebay and now the drivers side is gone again. luckily I only replaced the one last time round so have one "in stock". Im warming to the idea of a complete new suspension - If only I could do it without lowering the car too much. I have series suspension(not even M) and use it daily - No use for 30mm lowering and the only alternative seems to be a threaded suspension which I don't have the money for. Hey ho.

Are you surprised? Given the tendency for the OEM springs to break, this is not a good second-hand buy.
I fitted Suplex as I didn't want to lower (having the lower M SPort suspension anyway).

They cost 1 (in words: One) Euro for the set, so I really couldn't care about them breaking again. NEXT time it will be time to think about a change though.

Mine Broke, both sides, appears they have been broken for some time tbh, only noticed because i decided to switch front and rear wheels
i actually thought that they where fine, i expected if they went I'd feel it

Both gone at the pig tales

E85 2004 - 95k

Just a quick one, I got under the car this weekend and replaced both rear springs. It's surprisingly a super easy job to DIY, and in my opinion well worth it! vs taking it to a garage!

Both rears just replaced under extended warrenty, 39000 miles. Only suspected one being broken, but changed both nonetheless finding the other falling apart on removal. Would of been difficult/impossible to of been certain without removal though. Fitting eibachs or similar when time and money permits.

I should be on this list 4 times since 80k! Three times on the rear and once drivers front. Front shocks, top mounts and another rear spring snapped at 100k. So I've just had a set of coilovers fitted, fingers crossed for now on!
