Broken Springs - List (add yourself if you've been affected)

44k miles, rear drivers side gone :x hopefully will be done as a warranty repair. bottom part of the spring snapped can feel and hear it still rattling around in the bottom.

Offside rear sounds broken, not fully checked yet, only had the car 3 weeks, didn't notice it on the test drive. What are the options for replacement? Seen some threads about eibach's but I had them on a previous car (celica) and couldn't get in and out of multi-storey car parks.

Eibach's and H&R seem the popular choice on here. I'll be going Eibach's (less drop) if any of mine go.

Hi,
my car's a 2004 3.0 with M sport suspension and 14,800 miles. Springs on the rear replaced twice, first time at 11,000 miles and again at 14,200 miles. Bizarre.

Just had an MOT failure, broken rear spring. The inevitable I suppose.

2003 3.0i SMG roadster, 70k miles.

Tempted to go the Eibach route and get it lowered. Going to call Darren Wood on Thursday and get him to take a look.

Both springs are broke on my 07 3.0 Si 35000 miles. I have sports kit suspension. Bought set of springs from main dealer £200. Just fitted both this morning in 50 mins.
the Series 3 jack I bought on ebay for £20 really came into its own. It can be used to open up the gap and the spring just drops out. Very easy job. I had some pipe to put over a socket handle for leverage on the shock bolt. BMW wanted £87+ vat to fit.

Both went on my 2003 3.0i at 65,000m. Local indie fixed it and front bushes, as well as a service for £400 all in. A month on and the wiper linkage mechanism has gone belly up :headbang:

If you haven't had a broken spring you haven't owned a BMW! Virtually every BMW I have owned has had a spring break! This isn't peculiar to Z4's :fuelfire:

Good excuse to fit those H&R's you've had lying around

Mine had an MOT last month and was fine, AUC warranty ran out last week too, wouldn't care I checked a few days before to make sure all was ok, typical really :(

Changed the rears today and found out there both broken

Fitted my H&Rs and It doesn't look any lower, got to fit the fronts in the morning.

Whilst cleaning the drains on my recently acquired Zed I noticed that it had one old spring and one new! Had the pair replaced with Suplex 6231 and, unsurprisingly, the old one was broken. 79k miles.

Investigated a 'tinkling noise' to the left rear (evident when I drive over bumps) today and discovered a broken spring. 29,500 miles. Any advice on best buy replacements (make, source, etc.)? (not interested in lowering).

I read the 'how-to' thread on replacing, so will have a go at this when I get replacements.
