Broken Springs - List (add yourself if you've been affected)

wow, what a list. just came here as i've noticed one of mine is definitely broken. 56-plate coupe on SE spec, 70-odd thousand miles. ho-hum.

Just gave mine a once over before the MOT at the end of the month...looks like I'm joining the club:

Z4 - 3.0i
Year - 2003 (53)
Mileage - 86,000
Spring (NSR, OSR, Both) - OSR

Before I bought my Z4 a rear spring was replaced by the main dealer as part of AUC prep work, apparently...
Z4C
Year - 2007 (57)
Mileage - 44000 (not sure when it broke though)
Spring (NSR, OSR, Both) - wasn't specified sorry.

does this lower the rear ? both mine broke, the indy took the broken bits out, not sure if its lower or not, cant say it feels different to drive, want to go for kw ...v3 as these are too hard imo and whats the point if they keep breaking, thats a big list of names has anyone raised this with bmw as not fit for purpose ?

For the first time in 40 years of motoring a vehicle of mine failed its MOTC, and yes it's the Z4 with two broken rear springs. Never even noticed anything was amiss. The tester, a former z4 owner, was not surprised says he sees loads of busted springs these days and not just BMWs. Blames speed humps and pot holes !
New ones being fitted next Tuesday.
2008 2.0 in lovely Montego blue.

had never heard of original springs matches. :o

is something so common? what causes this problem!?

what is the price of new springs? :x

Just had mine both replaced today after a mere 45,000 miles.
Both had broken. Not sure on the cost yet as the bill awaits me when I get home tonight. Am hoping it will at least improve the ride ever so slightly.

Well have to add myself to the list, both rear springs broken, found today during the MOT 2004 3.0 SE with 59k miles.

No ratels or squeeks (except from the wipers as today is the first time in ages it has been out in the rain) and ride hight etc was fine they have both broken in exactly the same place at the bottom

Apparently the car had the Msport suspension according to the spec sheet but I don't know if they all say that? £250 to get them replaced

Rear off side has gone. Found out at MOT so it failed. Garage tried to charge me 200 quid to change it!!! Then told them a main stealer will do it for 170. My RAC warranty is covering most of it any way. I just have to pay an extra 40 quid for a BMW part.

2008 e86 30si 35000 miles rear offside, £215 a pair from BM I asked if they had been modified so it would not happen again parts guys face was a picture, told him they could keep them and bought a set of Eibachs £190 for 4 done the back with thicker rubbers, fronts will have to wait till next year. Vosa need a rocket up their arse.

.....and people laughed at my Citroen - never had this ballcocks!

2008, 2.0si, 58,000, both rears cracked, Premium brand? My Ar5e!
