39K Z4mr OSR spring gone.

Planning to fit a pair next weekend any recommendations on where to source original spec parts (or part nos) other than from BMW?

Thanks

I used realoem http://www.realoem.com to look up the part numbers and then http://www.cooper-bmw-parts.co.uk/ to order the parts which arrived within a few days at my home.

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BT92&mospid=49344&btnr=33_1335&hg=33&fg=45

I ordered parts, 2, 11,12,13 which may be overkill but a new bolt won't hurt and the two rubber pads are only a fiver each and worth changing in my mind.

02 Hex Bolt M12X1,5X60 07119900402
11 SPRING PAD LOWER 33531094518
12 Barrel spring rear 33507836827
13 SPRING PAD 5MM 33531136385

That's not a bad price - trouble was I had the car booked in for Saturday and wanted it done - so I got them from Sopers - discounted price & no postage so the best UK deal I could find. Fitted for £70 on top. it makes a noticeable improvement though, having new and complete springs :-)

Mine went at the weekend :headbang:

NSR piggy tail found on top of the exhaust when cleaning the car :(

All fixed now, actually lost the bottom two turns of the passenger rear spring, the broken but had made a bid for freedom which explains why it stopped jingling!

Just having a really bad day ... Both rear springs have failed, not too bothered as I've just done 98K in the Zed so I consider myself lucky with the spring issue but I only found out that they snapped due to my waterpump failing. I thought the waterpump would be relativley in- expensive to fix and probably costing more in labour than the part.

Ohhh no, I was basing my thought process on the replacement waterpump I replaced in my 330 I owned preveously, It cost £44.

To my horror the water pump for the Z4M cost's £465 from BMW and its a recon part........ So having to replace the rear springs at the same time is a bit of a shocker  and the cost of the springs are £88 each + VAT ... :headbang:

Off to pub for a drink now ...

529 posts.......this link should be sent directly to BMW. I know all cars have problems but this seems more common than most.

are they expensive to replace? O_O

I think £180 for a pair- from a main dealer.

If any of mine go on the coupe I'll be going H&R or Eibachs with a little drop.

06 3.0 SI

one spring before my purchase, unsure which

OSR 50K, Broken at least 2 coils from the seat, un-drivable

I Might come to somebodies rescue here.

I have a fully working complete suspension settup for a BMW Z4 E85 going spare due to me installing coilovers...

I haven't thought about selling them yet because i'm lazy. They're up for grabs for the right offer. I probably wont check this thread again so message me if you need a whole set. Would have to be a good offer to split it though as i'd like to sell the entire suspension set up.

It's the shocks... 4x springs, and helper shocks too including both top and bottom spring plates.

BMW Z4 Coupe 3.0si 2008
39.5k

Both rear springs snapped (had the car checked at 35k and again at 37.5k)

Took it as an opportunity to replace the whole lot with Eibach Pro Kit.

Get it back tomorrow, will post pics. Haven't done anything to out of the ordinary, 19" Satin Black CSL's and should be a 15mm drop over the sports springs that were on.

Eibachs to be fitted this weekend after finding another cracked bmw spring - had car three years and they were only just changed before I bought it - so this one lasted about 30k miles. Not good!

Would the springs be covered under a BMW used car warranty? Whats the damage to have the alternatives fitted? How far can the car be lowered Si before it starts to suffer from tyre rub? Is it obvious once they break?

Mine were replaced under the Insured/Extended Warranty, so I'd certainly expect that they would also be covered under the AUC or New Car warranties.

My dealer (Partridge Hampshire BMW) replaces both springs on an ///M, but only the broken spring on a non-M. Other people have had different experiences at different dealers.

Thanks for that, i have a two year approved warranty so will ask them to check them to make sure they are ok.
