Broken Springs - List (add yourself if you've been affected)

So I'll add to this as a newbie.

Bought the car last week. This week had a BMW winter health check - OSR spring snapped. Had to sign a waiver to take the car away as its deemed unroadworthy! No telling in the way it handles! Good thing it's got a warranty from the dealer!

Yep also had the issue on 30k miles. Annoying. Also just had a DSC hydraulic pump failure also. Who says German cars are reliable.

Had both fronts repaired about 18 months ago. Last night one of the fronts went in a big way. Sat stationary at trafiic lights, car shook like id been hit from underneath. Luckily i had it booked in for service this morning, turns out both fronts are gone so that is all 4 dead on a 54 plate, have covered 101,000. Shocking!

Me, again, different car. Z4m 49k miles, offside rear. Completely different symptoms to my last zed. Awaiting the dealer to repair it under warranty, when initially they said it wouldn't be covered.

I've joined the club this week.
Not driven my 03 plate for about 5 weeks while the slat is around but was going to take it for a run Sunday as it was [relatively] warm and.....hmm...funny smell. Must be the brakes locked on? Still smelly..... Hmm, back home (only gone 100 yds). Oh, its a bit low at the front. Ah, yes, the spring is in 3 pieces and the tyre was rubbing on the inner wheel arch. :tumbleweed: Bum.

Anyway, good news is, my usual garage, Burton Motor Works (BMW...get it?) have quoted me £315 parts and labour to replace both fronts.

just discovered both my rears are broken after getting tyres fitted, not sure how badly until i get a peek at them.
2007 38k

My Z4 Coupe Si has just gone in for a new set of Goodyear Assym 2's and discovered that one of my rear springs had broken. Changing both rears with BMW OED springs (i didnt want lower ride height with Eibachs given the Kentish roads) at ETA Motorsport in West Kingsdown Kent. Car has covered 45k miles.

Just had my 2004 3.0se serviced and been advised one of the rear springs has broken. Im confident I can replace them myself but need advice on what springs I need. Looking up on the vin check it says my car originally came with option 704 msport suspension, is this different from standard? I dont want to lower or modify just to have springs that dont break!. All help appreciated

Count me in - 2007 2.5i @ 60k miles. One of the rears, though I can't remember which side. Both sides replaced with BMW OEM springs, all going well so far...
I should say I didn't claim on my extended warranty - the excess was £250 and the warranty would've replaced only one spring. I got both sides done for £300 by a mechanic friend....

Me too, just found one broken whilst fitting tyres ,plus a work mate has just had to replace his on 2003 3.0 roadster on 70k.
Mine is a 2005 3.0 roadster on 96k
They are being replaced next weekend with suplex, dont trust the oem ones with the reputation they already have.

I haven't personally had a broken spring but my 2006 Z4M did have in its previous ownership, occurred in 2013 @ ~48k miles.

My 2006 Z4 has just failed its MOT because of a broken rear offside coil spring :x My car has done 44,700 miles :(

Brake pads and sensors replaced and was informed both my rear springs were broken, 1/4 of one completely missing :?

Would have taken a photo of the actual springs after being removed, but pretty sure my mechanic would have given me that glare 'is he really doing that'....

Z4 Coupe
Year - 2006 (56)
Mileage - 47500

Add me to the list, car went in for MOT and failed on o/s broken spring and n/s heavily corroded - so both changed!
Every else was fine.
Car is vintage 2008, E85, 2.5 litre Si with 45k on the clock.

Had a rear spring go, very easy to change yourself. Take off bottom bolt of shock absorber, then jack up and remove Road wheel, then pull out broken spring, should be easy, then get friend to pull down on hub to increase clearance to fit spring in, put on wheel, lower down and refit bolt to shock absorber, takes about 15mins, easy.
