Broken Springs, engine rattle and other Warranty items

After a month of living with my BMW approved used 07 Coupe to establish any niggly warranty items I dropped my car into the local BMW delaers a couple of days ago. These are all common faults but I thought I'd share the BMW response with you....

Broken drivers side rear spring (also happened on my old Z4 roadster) - parts are on back order, car is safe to drive. BMW will replace under warranty but won't do the passenger side. The fact the parts are on back order, the number of people on here that have advised of similar problems and the fact this happened on my 55 roadster all point to a serious issue here that BMW needs to address

Rattly tailgate - fittings were tightened - seems to have done the trick

Rattly engine at idle, clutch out, warm engine - I was told not to worry - this was symptomatic of the engine and "people pay thirty grand to hear that noise sir"

Squeaky windows, especially when warm - a "special fluid" was applied and the squeak has gone away

Hissing noise from radio speakers when radio is switched off - a replacement radio will be ordered and fitted under warranty

Hopefully that's all!

...it'll be a 15 grand rattle by the time its ready to sell... The threads on here do seem to suggest its a common issue though, but I'm going to get the dealership to "write up" the rattle on the fault report the next time I'm in to have the spring fitted. I also wrote a vitriolic email to BMW Customer Service today about the springs. Will be interesting to see what the response is....
