have noticed 3 or 4 times in 8 weeks of ownership, a fairly loud clank from the rear suspension, cant reproduce it at will just happens every now and then, possible broken rear spring ? , i call it a clank to avoid confusing it with the drive train clunk we also get on occasion from the diff flange area. any thoughts welcome :?

I have it, too. For example, it happens when I park the car with the left wheels on a curb, and the right wheels on the street. When I drive off the curb, the respective loud "clack" is heard from the rear suspension. I have checked the rear springs, both are OK.
As suggested above, remove the rear wheels and check the springs. If they are fine, then I suppose you'll have to live with the "clank" - at least until other member of this board comes out with a better idea.

if you checked the springs it can only leave the damper..... check the RSM as the are pretty poorly designed. Also the rear dampers fail, look into that.
