Broken "Sport" Button!

Have only owned the Zed for a few weeks and the love affair has started! However, the Sport button appears to do nothing, the orange light comes on but I notice no difference in tighter steering or throttle response, anyone else experience this? :?

When I had an E46 M3 you could immediately tell the difference!

So, any ideas? There is no engine lights on or faults in the memory either..

Cheers

Oh.. its a 3.0 Zed too

Mine went the other week. It was a box connector come adrift under the switch. Don't know if the E89 is different though.

Hi Carol,

Was it an easy fix for the garage? expensive?

I'm not sure of the differences with the e85 - e89 tbh? in terms of the sport button

It was covered under warranty.
I think they went in via the gear stick gaiter hole as when I got it back the gear knob wasn't located properly.
You could probably have a look yourself.

I'm sure someone will come along and post a bit more help than me soon!

Hi there mate,

You can also try the below procedure, it may reset it .

I have also added a link to an earlier thread about this issue so maybe have a look through that, it's at the bottom of my reply .

I found this link about s54 throttle adaptation reset

http://www.evo.co.uk/buying/buyingguide ... oints.html

IT READS

Curiously, the throttle system can go out of tune. Resetting it can improve throttle response and its really simple to do:
Turn the ignition on and wait for 10 seconds, then turn it off for 10 seconds, then turn it on again for 10, then start the engine.
Maybe its worth trying, not sure if it will work but its worth a go

Good luck

Mine doesn't seem to make too much difference, I've tried the reset procedure, that made a bit of difference. Hopefully someone will be able to shed some light on it on Sunday.

Is there anyway you can test it?

My 07 3.0 si is the same I can not notice any difference with sport button in. Mini cooper s (turbo) Really felt quicker with sport button activated.

Its easier to notice when switching it off i found. If you turn it on the drive for a bit, stay at a steady pace with your foot on the throttle then switch it off the car almost kind of droops a bit and becomes lazy.

If your not noticing much difference something is up. Mine makes a big difference especially in throttle response.

+1 to that... I notice a big difference with mine!

Mines the same, trying to convince myself that it makes a difference...I tried a blind test (passenger switching on/off without me knowing) and its either not working or too subtle for me

its not subtle mate, its a shame because the cars are seriously good in sport mode, kinda lazy without it on. I would get it fixed asap and you will see what i mean. If your near me at all feel free to compare mine to yours ?

Mine drives very differently with Sport on- if you keep your foot at a steady level on the accelerator and turn it on nothing happens until you come off the throttle and back on again, presumably to stop it surging forward, but if you do the same but turn it off you can feel the acceleration drop back immediately as the throttle mapping changes.
