Well decided to paint my calliper's today, got one side done then when I got to the other side and I found a little surprise :o

So just decided to whip them off and order some new one's.

First off I just applied WD40 to the only bolt you need to undo at the bottom of the damper, and undo and remove.

Then just use a bar to gently lever the spring out, easy.

The spring was had it, bit annoyed as it only passed its MOT 3 weeks ago!

Just a quick paint and will be all ready for the new spring

I'm one of those that like's to leave everything standard :tumbleweed:

Will post some pic's of the new one's once fitted

I'm not sure putting a new one back in will be so easy so would be interested in seeing pics of the process
Mind your fingers

Replace as a pair, then you'll always have a spare one if you need it. If you buy genuine BMW ones from a BMW dealer, you'll get a 2 year warranty with them.

I have removed the non-broken spring and was no more bother, just put all my weight on the bar while wiggling it out.

I have ordered 2 off ebay, so hope they get here by the end of the week!

Only time will tell if they are as easy to fit as remove :?

Fitted my new springs today! it's very easy.

I also replaced all 4 discs and pads... and changed both drive belts! :D

To fit the new spring simply use a bar and gently push in.. easy

All finished with the new spring, disc and pads and a coat of paint to make it look good once wheels are on :D

Very good day. Machine polishing tomorrow if the weather is good

Good job, and a nice set of pics, looks like springs are one job a BMW that is easier than normal

Hey, to be honest the whole lot was surprisingly easy compared to my last toy (Mazda MX5 mark 1) the hardest was changing the belts as need an assistant (the wife) to place a screwdriver in the tensioner when I took the tension off from beneath the car, and helped put the belts on. She seemed very pleased that she did it right.

Bedded the brakes in today and the difference is very noticeable, very glad I changed them :D
