broken hydraulic hose? (Rooftop issues)

Hello forum, today i went in to check the BMW service who supposed to fix the failed rooftop on my 2003. Z4 3.0i.

And now i have a question the forum may answer easily: is it possible, that due to stuck water the pressure hose gets somewhat rigid and it leaks or break?

I was told that due to the water issue this hose became rigid? or something that it simply broke when they tried to bend it.
Is this possible?

Having the motor fail was not a surprise, i have a good sound memory and i noticed that closing-opening the room was becoming an issue.

Then about a week ago it stopped moving. My car has seen light use (76k kilometers) but sometimes i had to park outside. The service told me they checked the draining, but seeing what was written on the forum i understood that it's practically impossible unless they disassemble the roof assembly. So the motor was not a surprise.

But the hose that attached to those hyrdaulic cylinders....

Guys, can you imagine it break somehow? Please, share your thoughts! Thanks.

There is no way water would cause the hose to become "rigid". The hoses are rather stiff by nature in order to withstand much hydraulic pressure. You cannot cause a break like that by simply over flexing AFAIK (can't say I ever tried). Go ahead and try breaking that broken hose again, you won't, and even if you did, it wouldn't be that clean. One couldn't make a much cleaner cut with the proper cutting tool. For a break like that the hose had to be pinched somehow, either it was mis-located and got caught in some moving parts, or it got pinched against something during disassembly, IMHO.

BTW, the hose farthest up in the background appears to be kinked a bit. Best inspect all the hoses carefully before reassembly.

What he said ^^, I'd guess that it's been put back together not quite right and it's got caught in the mechanism.

I took mine apart at the weekend, and those hoses didn't seem delicate/fragile, and they definitely weren't particularly rigid or anything.
